Community Link Workers at Letham

Gail Balie and Chris Forber

Community Link Workers offer support to children and families at school and involve parents in their children's education.  There are many issues that may affect how children feel about school and other aspects of their lives, some of those include:

  • Transition from primary to secondary school
  • Relationships with teachers, parents and peers
  • Bullying and other daily pressures
  • Anxiety and / or depression

These issues can at times impact on childrens attendance at school, affect how they behave, feel and cope with everyday situations.  Community Link Workers can help by:

  • Providing a link between home and school
  • Providing support to individual children, young people and their families
  • Work with other support agencies
  • Work with groups of parents and young people in school and their local communities
  • Offer parents the opportunity to share their experiences with other parents and carers and to discuss strategies which may help them to cope with challenging behaviour

Some of the things we do:

  • Home Visits
  • Parents Groups
  • Individual and Groupwork with Children and Young People
