Social Snack & Tuckshop - Update

Our P1-P4 classes are already back in a good routine where they have 20 minutes of daily physical activity outside at 10.20am led by their class teachers; this is followed by social snack indoors between 10.40 and 11am.

A number of our P5-7 children continue to enjoy coming along to the tuck-shop area for their snack each day at 10.40am although we would like to encourage more of our older children to participate.

We have some super news to share also! Perth Foodbank has agreed to support us this session by providing extra food items (tins, packets etc.) and this will allow us to reduce costs further.

We are currently reviewing our menu and trialing different snacks with the children e.g. warm soup and crusty bread, baked potato and beans and will aim to have a set menu in place for after October.

 Next Steps

  • P1-4 children: Free snack until October holidays then £5 per 8 week term
  • P5-7 children: Snack reduced to £1 per week/20p per day
  • P5-7 children: Free trial days once per week per class

 Payment

We still need to rely on cash to allow us to shop locally and keep prices low.

From October P1-4 children will pay for the term in a block and this can be paid at the main school office or given to class teacher.

 Water

All children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school and these can be used in the classrooms. Juice and flavoured water are not allowed in the classrooms and should be kept in school bags – if these are spilled they can ruin resources and attract ants.

 Healthy Snacks

If you prefer to send your child to school with their own snack please encourage them to bring a healthy snack to school. There are some good ideas here:

Some of our older children are bringing large bags of crisps and bars of chocolate for their break; we will be monitoring this and actively encouraging them to swap to healthier (and cheaper) options.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Johnstone or Mrs Forbes via the school office.
